Summer has begun in Westport

Jun 23, 2017 | Drinks, Events, Shopping

Now that summer is officially here in Kansas City, we’re taking things up a notch. Let’s take advantage of the (sometimes) nice weather, stock up on bright, fun gear and enjoy unique events offered by some local businesses in Westport.

Show your Westport pride

What better way to show off your love for Westport than with a vibrant t-shirt? Stop by The Bunker to pick up your Westport summer t-shirts and tanks or take a stroll down Pennsylvania to Spa on Penn, where you can also get the summer t-shirt. Ask them (as well as Green Room and Ernie Biggs) about an additional Westport shirt to wear year-round!

Escape the summer heat, catch a flick

Out Here Now, the Kansas City LGBT Film Festival and Westport summer tradition, returns to the Tivoli Cinemas. The 18th season begins Thursday, June 22 and extends through Thursday, June 29. Enjoy a week of film screenings and events featuring well-known directors, Broadway stars and more. For full details and a schedule, click here.

Pay tribute to craft beer

Additionally, the annual Westport Summer Beer Fest returns to the streets Westport for the seventh year on Saturday, June 24th from 5pm – 9pm. This event, perfect for the craft beer lover, features more than 80 beers from over 35 breweries. For a complete list of breweries and to purchase tickets, click here.

Drink for a cause

Lastly, join Julep on Saturday, June 24th for a fundraiser benefiting Lula Williams, daughter of owners Beau and Keely, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma at just nine months old. Julep will open early and feature happy hour specials, live music, passed appetizers and a silent auction. When the sun sets, enjoy a summer night at “Club Lula” for the night, complete with bottle service and a DJ. Just $5 at the door will get you a free Old Fashioned.
