To facilitate the arrival and departure of patrons from Westport during “Westport Live” on Friday and Saturday evenings, designated drop-off and pick-up zones for ride sharing vehicles are being established (starting today, Friday, April 28, 2017) on the south side of Westport Road between Mill Street and Bridger Street from 9:00 pm to 4am to facilitate safer and better connections between riders and drivers. The Uber General Manager for Missouri and Kansas, Andy Hung, described the new options this way “Now, with the new dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone, it is even easier for folks to push a button and get a ride to their favorite local restaurant or a safe ride home after a night on the town”.
Additionally on the north side Westport Road between Mill Street and Bridger Street, a greatly expanded taxi stand will be established each Friday and Saturday evening of “Westport Live”. The expanded taxi stand will also operate between the hours of 9:00 pm and 4:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays to make it easier for patrons and visitors to get into and out of Westport.
To facilitate these additional transportation options, there will no longer be curbside parking along this one block section of Westport Road during the hours of 9:00 pm and 4:00 am on Friday and Saturday evenings.
