Officials with the 41st Annual Art Westport event have announced the top awards and accompanying cash prizes for the 2021 event that occurred Friday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 12. The winners for Best in Show, First Place, and Second Place were announced during a morning breakfast hosted for the participating artists on Sunday, Sept. 12, as follows:
- Best in Show: Christopher Dowdy (Wood)
- First Place: Shawanna Meeks (Fiber)
- Second Place: Genevieve Hamel (Emerging Artist)
The artists were judged based on the visual quality and creative design of their original works of art found in their assigned space at Art Westport.
Art Westport is the largest and oldest outdoor art show featuring exclusively local Kansas City artists. Participation in Art Westport is very competitive and involves a visual and written application followed by a jury selection process involving a group of accomplished art industry professionals and academicians. The three-day event is held during the weekend immediately after Labor Day each year along the historic streets of Westport.
The 41st annual Art Westport was presented by the Westport Regional Business League and sponsored by Country Club Bank, The City of Kansas City Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund, Pepsi, and Boulevard Brewing Company.
