2021 Year in Review

Dec 15, 2021

Our historic neighborhood was happy to welcome you all back to Westport this year as businesses reopened and life returned to (somewhat) normal. And just as we welcomed you back, we also welcomed some new neighbors to the district! So, before we ring in the new year, let’s take a look back at 2021 and the new additions it brought to Westport, as well as some openings to look forward to in 2022.

New to Westport

Westport was thrilled to welcome four new businesses to the neighborhood this year!

Providence Pizza is just the place to satisfy your late-night pizza cravings! Order a slice of their classic New York thin crust or grab a 20’’ pie to share with the pizza lovers in your life. Dine in or take your meal to go Tuesday-Wednesday from 11am – 9pm, Thursday from 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday from 11am-3:30am, and Sunday from 11am-8pm.

Kobi Q brings the best of fresh sushi and Korean BBQ to Westport Road! Start the meal with a sake bomb, gobble up an order of crab Rangoon, and enjoy a full sushi bar and Korean comfort foods Tuesday-Thursday from 4-10pm, Friday from 4-10:30pm, Saturday from 3-10:30pm, and Sunday from 4-9pm.

Port Fonda is BACK and under new ownership! You can enjoy the margaritas and tacos you know and love Wednesday-Thursday from 11:30am-10pm, Friday from 11:30am-11pm, Saturday from 10am-11pm and Sunday from 10am-10pm, with weekend brunch from 10am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday! Did we mention discounted tequila shots during happy hour??

Westport Fish and Chips offers fresh-squeezed lemonade and seafood combo meals next door to its sister concept, Chick-in Waffle, on Westport Road! If hand-battered cod, crispy waffle fries, and warm fried Oreos make your mouth water, then this place is the perfect catch! Available Monday-Thursday from 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday from 11am-3am, and Sunday from 11am-7pm.

Opening Soon

The year is not over quite yet! Check out these two businesses, which are anticipated to open their doors before 2022!

Taco Bell Cantina is almost here for those of you who want to live más! What makes this Taco Bell location so special? It serves alcohol! The Cantina is located on the ground level of the Westley on Broadway and will be the only Taco Bell Cantina within 400 miles of the KC metro.

Guy’s Deli at Kelly’s is bringing a new mix of snacks and deli eats to the former Joe’s Pizza Buy the Slice location! Westport patrons can fuel up on a variety of seasoned potato chips and snacks, sandwiches, and most importantly, still grab a slice of the beloved Joe’s Pizza!

Coming in 2022

There is much to look forward to in 2022…. and we’re not only talking about the return of our St. Patrick’s Day celebration! We’re also excited about these businesses coming to Westport next spring and summer. Stay tuned for more details.

Tin Roof will be the place to go for music shows while enjoying a craft cocktail and Southern comfort food! The live music venue will feature up-and-coming musicians, plus local and regional bands.

Fountain Haus is bringing an LGBTQIA+ friendly multi-level club to the old Hop Cat space! There will be a different concept in each room, from a vibrant dance floor to a reservations-only speakeasy.

Johnny Kaw’s Outback will take over the former Californo’s space on Pennsylvania Avenue and Mill Street with a new country music concept. The outdoor area will connect to Johnny Kaw’s Yard Bar just next door, with the entire complex estimated to hold up to 2,500 people.

Cheers to a successful year in Westport! We look forward to ringing in 2022 with you.
