Sidewalks and Streets Transform to Cafes

Jun 12, 2020 | Latest News

Weekends in Westport will look a little different this year – in a good way. Kansas City’s original entertainment district is thrilled to announce the addition of sidewalk and street cafés every Friday through Sunday beginning Friday, June 12. The new cafés provide Westport businesses with additional space to serve guests and increase revenue while following the city’s safety and social distancing measures.

Westport will close certain blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue, Archibald Street, and Westport Alley on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, or any combination of those three days, to allow for the creation of street cafés. The district will decide which blocks to close on a weekly basis depending on the number of businesses in the same block that choose to extend their premises. All streets will remain open Monday through Thursday.

Each business will determine their sidewalk or street café operating hours, which may vary from regular operating hours. Please contact individual businesses with questions. A directory can be found here.
