As we welcome September, we also welcome many events in the Westport neighborhood. A variety of outdoor festivals celebrating food, drink, art and music give plenty of reasons to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in the streets of Westport.

Saturday, September 2nd – Port Fonda‘s Second Annual Hatch Chile Festival 


To kick off September in Westport, Port Fonda’s Hatch Chile Festival returns for the second year. This family and puppy friendly event takes begins at 9am and continues until 11:30pm. Head to this block party for a full service bar and dining outside, featuring special menu items and drinks. Also, chiles will be hand roasted on site and available for purchase.

 

Friday, September 8th – Sunday, September 10 – 38th Annual Art Westport

Each year on the second weekend of September, many of Kansas City’s most talented artists fill the streets of Westport for the three-day art show, Art Westport. Art Westport is Kansas City’s only local art fair exclusively for Kansas City artists. In 2017, Art Westport is celebrating 38 years with 120+ artists, a live entertainment stage featuring local musicians, sidewalk cafes and outdoor bar. So, mark your calendars to grab a drink or a bite to eat and stroll through the streets of Westport to view some beautiful Kansas City made art.

 

Saturday, September 16th – Julep‘s First Annual Grain to Glass Whiskey Festival

Head to Archibald Street on Saturday, September 16 from 1pm – 10pm for their first annual Grain to Glass street festival! This event celebrates their newest whiskey barrel program: a 10 Year Whistle Pig Single Barrel Rye! So, enjoy special Whistle Pig cocktails and delicious bites all day long for just $10 per person. In addition, Fritz Hutchinson Band will play from 7pm – 9pm.

 

Thursday, September 28th – Sunday, October 1st – First Annual Westport Oktoberfest Celebration

Last, grab your lederhosen and join us for the first annual Westport Oktoberfest! This four-day event celebrates German heritage, complete with Oktoberfest beers, stein hoisting, German entertainment and much more! The event kicks off Thursday evening with a ceremonial tapping of the first keg, beer tastings and a stein hoisting competition. The celebration continues into Friday and Saturday with two live entertainment stages, outdoor bars, exclusive Oktoberfest merchandise, a 21+ Bierhaus and more. Finally, the Westport Oktoberfest Lederhosen Lap 5K rounds out the weekend on Sunday! So, sign up for the race here.
