Kare for Your Kidneys Carnival

DSI Westport, located at 3947 Broadway, is hosting a community awareness health carnival on Wednesday, June 30th from 11am-3pm. The National Kidney Foundation, Heartland Kidney Network, and Midwest Transplant Network will be participating, among others.

DSI will be using fun and creative ways to teach patients and the community about kidney disease. They plan to use carnival style games like ring toss, duck pond, and darts to teach participants about kidney
disease, treatment and prevention. They hope to increase awareness of kidney disease and help those with kidney disease learn more about caring for themselves.

There will also be a dunk tank.  Dr. Awad and other doctors have volunteered to be dunked to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation.  Come and test your dunk tank skills for a good cause!   1 ball = $2 and 3 balls =$5

The carnival is free to the community and will be fun for the whole family.  Come out and eat free hamburgers, play free games, and learn about kidney disease.  You can also enter a raffle for a chance to win KC Royals tickets.

Fresh Friday A' La Mode at Kitchens by Kleweno

Kitchens By Kleweno

You are invited to attend Fresh Friday A’ La Mode hosted by Kitchens by Kleweno on July 9th from 5 pm to 7pm. Treat yourself to an evening of delicious bites from unique local businesses.

Enjoy samplings from Evelyn Marie Farms, located in Creighton, MO on 160 acres and a family-owned since 1948. The farm sells whole, half and split half beefs directly to individuals.

Afterwards, make sure to visit with Meadowlark Acres, specializing in gourmet garden goods. They produce fresh pepper and herb jellies and chutneys in season. All of their garden produce is raised from seed, handpicked, triple-washed and slow cooked in small batches to ensure freshness.

Did I forget to mention that the Upper Crust will be joining in the Fresh Friday event. If you are not familiar with the Upper Crust, it is a delicious pie bakery located in the lower-level of Pryde’s Old Westport. They make homemade fruit pies, nutty pies, cream pies and much more.

To top it all off, the Kleweno’s team has created an original ice-cream treat that is made with Shatto Milk, blended with Missouri’s own eco-friendly spirit 360’s new Cola and Double-Chocolate flavored vodkas. Trust me when I say that this is a whole new kind of float!

Mark your calendars for Fresh Friday A’ La Mode on July 9th at Kitchens by Kleweno.
